Valentine’s Day is my favorite unofficial holiday. To get ready for the month of February, I’ve compiled a list of Valentine’s letterboard quotes that would be perfect for the holiday. I’ve heard the complaints about it being over commercialized (honestly, what holiday isn’t nowadays). I’ve also been told I shouldn’t wait for February to show my loved ones that I care about them. Yes, I think there’s truth to that last statement. We should show love and care for our spouse, children, and friends throughout the whole year. However, I don’t see how a holiday dedicated to love is a bad thing.
Love is one of the fruits of the spirits. Dare I say it, it is the greatest fruit of the spirit (I’m stretching, but 1 Corinthians 13:13 is where I’m pulling it from). God is love and Jesus spent all of his earthly ministry showing love to others. I think we need more days like Valentine’s Day to spread that love to our family, friends, and neighbors.
Why Make a Big Deal Out of Valentine’s Day?
But now we get to the real reason why I like Valentine’s Day so much. I absolutely love everything about Christmas. I enjoy decorating the whole house and I love the gift buying, parties and good food. Getting together with family I haven’t seen in forever is the icing on the cake. January is a much needed recovery month for me. I can get myself back on track and relax after all the “hustle and bustle”.
Sadly, by mid-January, I’m over the bore. Call me an extroverted introvert. I thrive off of the fun and excitement, but too much overwhelms me. In the same token, not enough events happening, and I’m depressed and feel as if I have no friends. Please tell me I’m not the only one.
Therefore, Valentine’s Day is the perfect way to bring my spirits back up and keep me excited until spring/summertime. I love writing love notes to my boys and pasting them on the door of their bedroom (they’re still young enough that I’m not a weird mom for doing it). I enjoy doing fun Valentine’s Day crafts with them and having heart shaped pancakes on Valentine’s Day morning.
Ways to Celebrate
Truly, I love decorating for Valentine’s Day. The easiest and best way to change things up and give your home that extra flare is by adding a letterboard with a Valentine’s Day quote to it. I know, I sound sooo 2020 by saying this, but having a letterboard is the best way to turn your living space into a “uniquely yours” approach.
This one is my favorite on Amazon right now. I even found these accessories include that extra little something for holidays like Valentine’s Day.
What I have done is compiled a list of short, cute quotes to add to the letterboard during the month of February. These are separated into funny quotes, sweet love quotes, Valentine’s quotes for the whole family, quotes from a Bible perspective, and quotes to encourage and inspire yourself.
Funny Valentine’s Letterboard Quotes
“If you were a booger in my nose, I’d pick you.”
Kudos to my brother Ryan for telling me this one years ago. It makes me laugh, even to this day. Undoubtedly, this for sure will get a reaction out of your house guests when they visit.
“I found the person I want to annoy for the rest of my life“
It’s probably my most relatable funny quote. Annoying poor Bert is my favorite pastime. Clearly, it’s a good thing he’s such a good sport.
“Roses are red, violets are blue, the dog is my favorite, but you’re okay too.”
It’s perfect if you’re seriously in love with your fur babies. Before I had children, if I ever had an apartment of my own, I guarantee you this would have been on my letterboard sign.
“You suck less than most people”
Unfortunately, we’ve all seen the ugly side of marriage. Two imperfect people living together make it that way. Acknowledging that is embracing it all as it comes, in my opinion. This quote reminds you that at the end of the day, even though you have to live with an imperfect, flaw-filled human, you would still do it over again. You would still make that choice again. That is a part of what true love means to me.
“You are my favorite pain in the neck”
It’s another way to say the quote above; sometimes you’re a real pain, but I don’t mind it as much coming from you.
Bible-Focused Valentine’s Letterboard Quotes
Disclaimer: I I took parts of the verses, or paraphrased the verse to make them fit better on a letter board. Don’t come at me like I’m rewriting the Bible!
Love one another 1 John 4:7
Beloved, let us love one another. For love is of God. And everyone that loveth is born of God and knoweth God. 1 John has become one of my favorite books (I also love Proverbs and James). This verse is the “theme” I’m going with for 2023. I’ve been teaching this passage to our boys during evening devotions as our memory passage. Last year I focused on the verse “Be ye kind one to another”. I’m trying to add more verses to their memory to help teach them how they’re supposed to act towards others.
For God so loved the world John 3:16
The absolute best love verse there is in the Bible.
I have loved you with an everlasting love Jeremiah 31:3
What a verse to read and be reminded of each day when you see it! You are loved by God with an everlasting love. God’s love never goes away, never changes.
God is love 1 John 4:16
This verse is simple and effective. It’s a reminder to us of everything that God has done for us, and explains who He is. We’re also reminded of how we should treat others.
Perfect love casts out fear. 1 John 4:18
It’s easy to worry and fear in this world. We know that we don’t have to fear as Christians because we have the love of God with us.
Simple and Sweet Valentine’s Letterboard Quotes
“It was always you”
You were the one I prayed for, you were the one I dreamed of. Every failed relationship really just showed that I was looking for you. It was always and will always be you.
“You are my person”
No one else can do what you do. Other people are great, but they’re not you.
“You make my heart smile”
Only a few, select number of people can do that. It’s a big deal.
“What I have with you, I don’t want with anyone else”
I wouldn’t want to even look.
“I’m here, no matter what”
This one is my favorite in this category. Notice, it doesn’t say, “No matter what, I’m here.” There’s an emphasis on the fact that I’m here. I’ll always be here. You can depend on me. It’s almost as if you could state “I’m here” and that would be it.
For the Family Letterboard Quotes
“I love loving you”
It really is fun to express your love to someone you care about. Recognizing that your life would be 100% different if that special person wasn’t there is huge. When I read this quote, I think not just about my husband and loving him. I reflect on how different my life would be without each of my three sons hanging around inside it. Sure, motherhood is hard work and there are days I’m exhausted beyond comprehension by the time the children are tucked in. But I honestly love loving my family.
“When you love what you have, you have everything you need”
There’s always going to be wants. You’re always going to have desires. This is a reminder that even when you’ve got 6 items hanging out in your Amazon cart, that you can be content with what you have.
“I love us”
Simple and sweet.
“Family: where life begins and love never ends”
There’s no safer spot in the world.
“Find your tribe; love them hard”
You married the right person. You found the right church. Now, you’ve got the “iron” friendships. You’re putting in the hard effort to raise your child(ren) right. You’ve completely found your tribe. Now it’s time to love them hard.
Self-love Letterboard Quotes
I think these quotes are perfect for every family situation. They’re sure to encourage even the teenager who thinks it’s just a little too cheesy. Reading them each day reminds you of what’s most important in your home. They’re quotes to hold on to, even on the toughest of days. My favorite is the last one; when you focus on joy, it’s easy to love those around you.
“I am enough”
“I am worthy of love”
“Carry love in your heart”
“I am valuable”
“When joy is a habit, love is a reflex.”
